Now, it is safe to say she is passionate about the work of first responders who serve our community. Mrs. Ingram went out of her way to make sure she hugged and thanked every paramedic, 911 dispatcher and firefighter who helped her after she suffered a heart attack last February. Mrs. Ingram was at her home when she started feeling ill. It was not long before her husband called 911. The firefighters arrived and started taking Mrs. Ingram’s vital signs and gathering information for the paramedics. When MCHD paramedics arrived, they performed an EKG and determined she was experiencing a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). It is a serious type of heart attack where a major coronary artery is completely blocked. The paramedics immediately started giving medications to help Mrs. Ingram and alerted the hospital in advance so the cardiologist would be ready for her arrival. After treatment and a very short stay in the hospital, Mrs. Ingram was released from the hospital. She went to outpatient cardiac rehab and is now doing amazingly well. Last week, she and her family reunited with the crews who helped save her life.“I want you all to know I went to the cardiologist, and he performed an ultrasound on my heart. I have NO heart damage. So, what you guys did, to me, is really a miracle. If it weren’t for you all, I wouldn’t be here. My family would be mourning my death instead of celebrating my life, and it’s because of what you all do every day. I’ll never be able to thank you enough.”MCHD would like to thank all of the first responders involved in Mrs. Ingram’s care:MCHD ParamedicsIn-Charge Paramedic Alexander MacTavishIn-Charge Paramedic Aaron GuembesMCHD 911 Dispatch CenterALARM Call Taker Christopher PenaSouth Montgomery County Fire DepartmentBrett HarbersRick Rekart#ems #firstresponders ...
