Mr. Johnson joined MCHD in March 2012. During his time at MCHD, the organization has focused on streamlining its services to the community. The EMS service has continued to focus on response times, clinical expertise and customer service. Additionally, MCHD has worked with the 13 Montgomery county-area first-responder agencies to ensure a seamless, coordinated partnership responding to all 66,000 9-1-1 calls it receives each year. This focus helped MCHD achieve the “EMS Provider of the Year” award in 2013. Mr. Johnson has also worked to assure that MCHD provides its services in a transparent, efficient and effective manner. The Healthcare Assistance Program (HCAP) continues to serve the indigent county residents by contracting services with over 300 physicians, 10 hospitals and numerous outpatient service centers. This provides patients excellent care with great value to the taxpayers of Montgomery county. Also, Mr. Johnson has expanded the Montgomery County Public Health Department to provide emergency disaster services, mobile medicine services and community volunteer services. As Executive Director of MCPHD, Mr. Johnson has brought a great deal of focus and attention to overseeing Montgomery County’s Public Health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to joining the District, Mr. Johnson’s 30-year experience in hospital administration includes overseeing the development and operation of several hospitals including facilities with HCA, Memorial City, Christus and Kindred Healthcare.

Mr. Johnson earned his MS in Health Services Administration from the University of Houston at Clear Lake and his BBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of The Woodlands Rotary Club and the Conroe, East Montgomery County, Magnolia, Magnolia Parkway and The Woodlands Chambers of Commerce. He is also on the Advisory Board for Montgomery County Meals on Wheels.
