FIRST RESPONDERS AWARDED FOR SAVING MAN’S LIFE
CONROE, TEXAS – On February 3rd, 2026, Jeff Trethewey was going about a normal day. He installed some floodlights and opened a mirror from an Amazon package. He heated some stew in the microwave. He had no idea he was about to have a heart attack. Home alone – he called 911 himself – as he started feeling debilitating chest pain. As paramedics and firefighters arrived, it became clear; he was in full-on cardiac arrest.
Paramedics applied a cardiac monitor to his chest and delivered shocks, inserted a breathing tube and gave medications to put his heart back in a normal rhythm. The paramedics loaded him into the ambulance and continued advanced medical care as they transported him to the hospital. Jeff’s heart stopped another three times after he arrived at the hospital.
Today, his doctors are amazed at how well he is doing. He is living a normal life with no deficits, looking forward to a long life ahead of him.
“I am so grateful to all of you here today,” Jeff told paramedics and firefighters during a reunion this week. “Because of you, I am able to have more time with my kids, grandkids, and my wife. We are looking forward to vacations. It all wouldn’t be possible without you.”
