Public Education and Outreach
Donate Life
Texans can register to be organ, tissue and eye donors online by visiting www.DonateLifeTexas.org or when they renew their driver license or personal identification card.
The Glenda Dawson Donate Life - Texas Registry is the state program that is responsible for managing the donor registry and state-funded donor education projects.
The program is funded by a $1 voluntary contribution that Texans can make when renewing their driver license or identification card, or when registering their motor vehicle.
In 2007, the Donor Education, Awareness, and Registry program was renamed the Glenda Dawson Donate Life - Texas Registry by the Texas legislature in memory of Representative Dawson's contributions to organ donation in the State of Texas.

There is a new Law in Texas regarding Child Passenger Safety: this begins on September 1, 2009
A person commits an offense if the person operates a passenger vehicle, transports a child who is younger than eight years of age, unless the child is taller than four feet, nine inches, and does not keep the child secured during the operation of the vehicle in a child passenger safety seat system according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the safety seat system. Timetable: this law becomes effective Sept. 1, 2009. Warnings will be issued to violators until June 1, 2010, at which time citations will be issued. The following link to the Texas legislature web site shows the law as passed by 81st legislative session:

MCHD understands the importance of having your kids buckled up safe in your car. One of the primary goals to keeping your child safe is to make sure that they fit the child safety seat appropriately and that it is secured correctly in your car. As a community service, MCHD has available to you a Nationally certified Child Safety Seat Technician. Safety seat inspections take approximately 30 minutes and are done by appointment only. Please contact Veronica Torres by email or at 936-523-5029 to make an appointment.
