Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)

The Medical Reserve Corp’s mission is to organize and utilize medical and non-medical volunteers to strengthen Montgomery County’s public health, emergency response and community resiliency.

Montgomery County MRC was established in September 2010. As a part of Montgomery County Hospital District’s Public Health Department, the MRC unit provides surge capacity in local disasters including assistance in mass prophylaxis and vaccination clinics or other major public health needs. The unit works closely with the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management, CERT, United Way and other County resources to develop coordinated responses to disasters. The purpose of our unit is to supplement the community’s existing emergency medical response capabilities and public health infrastructure. To achieve this, we need YOU!

How to join

Regardless of professional expertise, all volunteers are welcom. There are various emergency response roles that you could assume-not only medical and mental health, but also administrative, logistical, public outreach and more.

We encourage all prospective volunteers to register for Montgomery County MRC by going to www.texasdisastervolunteerregistry.org and completing their profile in its entirety. After being approved, you will be the first to receive local public health notifications as well as any training and volunteer oppportunities to better prepare you, your family and your community for an emergency.
