Logistics

The Logistics Department has several areas of responsibility. It receives and distributes operational supplies to all MCHD Support Staff and Operations. Maintains proper operation of Medical equipment and devices. The Logistics Departments assists in tracking and maintaining MCHD capital and non-capital equipment.

They procure medical, patient care, office, and household sundry supplies for all MCHD Operations which includes 16 EMS stations, special event teams, and peak trucks. Patient care supplies and AED components/accessories are distributed to 44 First Responder stations within the 15 participating county agencies.

The Logistics Department consists of one Logistics/Purchasing Coordinator, one Supply Technician I, one Supply Technician II, one Equipment Technician, and one Administrative Support Assistant.

The Logistics/Purchasing Coordinator oversees and coordinates Purchasing Procedures and paperwork utilized by all MCHD departments. She authorizes and releases office supply order for all MCHD departments and oversees distribution of the supplies. She purchases all medical equipment and supplies for ambulances, mobile clinics, and First Responders. She may be called upon to assist other departments in assessing purchases. She oversees the Logistics Department activities-receipts, distribution, budget planning, inventory, etc.

The Supply Technician I position receives MCHD purchases, stocks the warehouse, manages the uniform account-orders, receipts, and distribution. She oversees supply distributions and assists the field personnel with station, ambulance, and uniform needs. Procures household and sundry supplies. She updates the inventory sheet for ambulances, stations, First Responders, supply van and warehouse. She assists with the relocation of EMS stations and other company activities.

The Supply Technician II position inventories and restocks supplies for the EMS stations. She fills and distributes orders from the First Responder stations. She inventories the supply van, peak truck, and maintains station supply files. She cleans the supply vehicle. She inventories and restocks the peak truck supply area, kitchen, and bathrooms and empties waste containers at the George Strake facility.

The Equipment Technician position tracks and maintains medical equipment and certain ambulance equipment-fire extinguishers, garage door openers, rechargeable flashlights, nitrous oxide bottles, etc. She orchestrates preventative maintenance checks on ambulance gurneys, cardiac equipment, and I. V. pumps. She retrieves and cleans certain medical equipment. She inventories and purchases equipment accessories. She assists in Logistics and other department activities.

The Administrative Support Assistant creates purchase orders for the Fleet department. She matches all receipts with purchase order for the Fleet and Logistics Departments. She receives and distributes mail delivered to George Strake Blvd. She assists with various other projects in Fleet and Logistics/Purchasing offices. She updates the fuel credit card account activation/deactivation to coincide with users.
