Physical Agility Testing

The physical agility evaluation is designed to examine an applicant’s strength, stamina, and overall physical ability to perform the duties of a field based emergency medical professional.  It is designed to replicate activities encountered by EMS personnel, including prolonged CPR.  The specific tasks must be completed within the 22 minute time limit.  This will occur following the completion of the general knowledge examination, skills testing and interview. Be sure to bring the proper attire for each part of the testing process.

Step Task Example
1 Remove stretcher from the ambulance. If the stretcher is not loaded with our rescue mannequin, carry the stretcher over the stairs 
2 Maneuver the stretcher through the 50 ft. obstacle course that includes uneven terrain, grass, dirt, concrete parking blocks, tree roots, etc.
3 Transfer the 100lbs rescue mannequin to the ground or stretcher  Mannequin must be safely secured to the stretcher
4 Maneuver the stretcher back through the same obstacle course
5 If the stretcher is not loaded with our rescue mannequin, carry the stretcher over the stairs
6 Place and secure the stretcher into the ambulance

Walk or run a quarter mile

Carry the combined weight of 44lbs up two flights of stairs

Perform 5 minutes of CPR using correct compressions and ventilations

10 Perform a fine motor skill after exertion.  Intubate the mannequin and confirm correct tube placement
