Facilities and Systems Technology (FaST)

The Facilities and Systems Technology (FaST) Department services the most basic needs of the District. FaST team members are responsible for information technology, telephones, radio communications, construction and facilities maintenance. When assistance is needed, MCHD employees submit a Resource Ticket via the Resource Center via the MCHD website. FaST team members then promptly address the needs through a coordinated approach. It's the department's goal to provide excellent service, and feedback is always welcome.

Information Technology

MCHD is an information-centric organization - technology is absolutely mission-critical. Our third-party vendor, OCS, and FaST staff members jointly work to provide the best technology available and to troubleshoot IT issues when they arise.

Telephones

At first glance, telephone systems appear to be a minor issue, but in reality it's much more complex than just plugging in the phone. MCHD's telephone system is highly integrated, and one simple employee change requires system adjustments, not to mention maintaining telephones for the administration building and all the stations. As MCHD grows, in employees and in number of facilities, the need for adjustments and maintenance increases.

Radio Communications

MCHD operates a 800 MHZ EDACS radio system which is used by EMS and Conroe Fire Department. MCHD also owns two radio towers, with others planned for construction.

Construction

MCHD is  knee-deep in numerous construction projects. Each facility under construction has been thoroughly researched and is being built out of a proven need. In order to have the most efficient EMS service, field staff need bases of operation that are conducive to their operational requirements. Studies have shown the impact of a station's design on response time and efficiency. The FaST Department has a strategic building plan and timeline based on the most urgent needs in the field.

Facilities Maintenance

Current, and future, MCHD-owned facilities bring with them a natural need for maintenance. This ongoing maintenance need is provided by the FaST Department. FaST team members don't search for a "quick fix"; they are continually looking for more efficient and technologically-advanced solutions to maintenance issues, and incorporating those into the design of future MCHD facilities.
