Thanks to all the MCHD staff for your support and hard work through Hurrican Ike.
Richard Smith has served as the District Courier since June of 2001. He quietly and happily does a fantastic job - completing a daily list of task that enables so many other to do theirs. After Richard recently took a vacation, , a collegue wrote, "I’d like to nominate Richard Smith for employee of the month. After filling in for him this past week while he was on vacation I truly realized that he can NEVER TAKE VACATION AGAIN… just kidding… I realized how VITAL he is to the District. It is amazing the job he does, and how many of us don’t realize how smoothly he makes things run ‘behind the scenes’. While I understand he shouldn’t be nominated for employee of the month simply based on him doing a FANTASTIC job at his normal duties… what I also realized this week was how one variation in his schedule really impacts his day and how hard it must be for him to make these “extra stops” we frequently ask him to make. I know when ever I’ve asked for such a thing he always responds with “NO PROBLEM”. However, now I realize how much he truly does in a day’s work and how adding just 1 extra task could potentially add huge stress to his day. His willingness to do these extra things to help us out, while maintaining his normal schedule, and having a great attitude in my book make him an invaluable asset to the MCHD family. I think he is not recognized or thanked enough for the times he goes ‘above and beyond’ his duties to help us out, and this is why I’d like to nominate him for employee of the month.
In lieu of an Employee of the Month, the District has elected to honor the PHI Med 12 crew that was killed on June 8, 2008 - Jana Bishop, Stephanie Waters, and Wayne Kirby.

In January, Jodie dedicated much effort into coordinating fund raising for the family of a fellow public servant that was tragically killed in an off-duty accident. She also arranged for flower and an ambulance for the funeral procession. The officer’s wife was critically injured as well. They have a 10 year old son. While Jodie did not know the officer personally, she worked very hard to help gather donations from fellow employees at MCHD to show that we care and want to help another in our public safety family. Jodie's belief in helping others is what we should all strive for. We are a family that helps and serve the citizens of Montgomery County. Jodie took time out of her busy life to help another family in need. She is what our Core Values are all about.
We all have busy lives and take it for granted that someone else will be a leader and get things done. Jodie is always willing to help others now and in the past. Thanks Jodie for having the compassion and leadership in helping others.
Katrina joined MCHD in May 2006 and quickly demonstrated her work ethic and desire for excellence. In addition to her normal duties in the Billing Department, Katrina has been instrumental in the success of the department toward its goal of reducing of paper records. She has created more efficient processes for insurance verification using electronic means instead of paper forms. This allows the staff to remain at their workstation instead of running back and forth to the copier.
